Could you spot a counterfeit banknote?

Counterfeit banknotes $100, $50, and $20 denominations are circulating throughout the Ipswich Police District.
Police are advising that if you have a banknote that looks not quite right, below are some ways to check a range of features that would advise the money in your hand may be a counterfeit.
Police urge businesses and customers alike to make themselves familiar with how to detect a counterfeit note.
The Reserve Bank of Australia has produced a guide to assist people in detecting counterfeit notes.

NAIDOC day celebrations at Leichhardt State Primary School

On Wednesday August 16, the Leichhardt State Primary School celebrated their annual NAIDOC day.
The school holds a NAIDOC event every year in week six of term three.
During the celebrations there were activities, games and traditional singing.
The students and police enjoyed the day equally and were very impressed and moved by the event.
QPS officers and students were very excited to meet Leroy Loggins who was in attendance at the ceremony.
Leroy is  an ex-Australian basketball player and took part in the activities and taught the children the basics of basketball.
A great day was had by all who attended and it was a fitting celebration to recognise the Indigenous peoples of our local area.

Police advise that residents should secure their homes and vehicles to avoid opportunistic thefts.
In the past, many vehicles have been taken while the victims were at home.
Keys, mobile phones and cash were also stolen after thieves allegedly gained entry to homes and easily located car keys in plain view.
Hiding car keys and valuables will make it difficult for offenders to steal your vehicle and other property.
Ask yourself, “where are my car keys?”
If you can, secure your car in a garage or park your vehicle inside of your yard rather than on the street. This will also assist in the prevention of number plates being stolen.
If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
You can report information about crime anonymously to Crime Stoppers, a registered charity and community volunteer organisation, by calling 1800
