School pick-up and drop-off zones – are you doing the right thing?

Queensland Police Service and Ipswich City Council School Compliance officers work in partnership to keep our children safe around school zones across the Ipswich Police District.
So it’s important for parents to know the rules around school zones, especially when it comes to dropping off their children and picking them up from school and parking their car.
All schools across the Ipswich Police District have rules for parents and guardians to keep children safe around schools.
Let’s continue to improve safety within school zone areas and protect our children.
What you need to know:

Passenger Loading Zones allow you to stop for up to two minutes to pick up or drop off a passenger.  You cannot park and leave your vehicle in a loading zone. FINE $126

Great success with Dogs on Patrol, Walloon

If you visited the Queensland Police Service at the Henry Lawson Bicentennial Park Walloon on Sunday morning, you would have enjoyed the many doggie activities, and treats from Footes Pharmacy Walloon, Rosewood Veterinary Service, and Crime Stoppers on offer for the Dogs on Patrol event provided by Ipswich District Crime Prevention.

You may have even had a coffee from Xpresso Coffee and a sausage from Ipswich District NHW, while taking in the atmosphere and sunshine.

A successful Dogs on Patrol event saw many locals from Walloon visit the Queensland Police Service Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit supported by Ipswich City Council, to have dog tags engraved by Volunteers in Police while collecting the vast resources to assist dog owners.

The favourite of the morning was a visit from Queensland Police Dog Cozza and his handler Senior Constable Ray, winning the heart of a young local who wants to be a police officer.

Breaking the Ice forums have broken the ice and started conversations!

No community is immune from drugs, but having factual information about drug use is an important step in being able to prevent use and related harm. This is exactly what members of our rural communities have been gathering over the last couple of months ,with the most recent forum last night at Lowood.
Constable Teagan Masters (Lowood Police Station),  Jonathon Cowley (Crime Stoppers Queensland), Mrs Jeanette Johnson (Lowood High School),  Senior Sergeant Bruce Peel (Acting Officer in Charge Lowood Police Station), Mrs Stacey Beu (Principal Lowood High School), Mr Peter Lupton (EACH) and MP Jim McDonald (Member for Lockyer)
The Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit, in partnership with Family Drug Support and Crime Stoppers Queensland, have been facilitating methamphetamine community information forums in the rural communities across the Ipswich police district, having now completed all four forums in Rosewood, Esk, Boonah and Lowood.
Tuesday night’s forum at Boonah included a presentation from Ms

Police and Emergency Services Officer of the Year announced!

Ipswich North Rotary proudly hosted the Pride of Workmanship – Rotary, Police and Emergency Services Officer of the Year Awards on Friday, April 20 at the Ipswich Civic Centre.
These awards involve the public, whether it be through councils, community organisations or as individuals showing their support for the emergency services who keep our community, streets and homes safe.
It is where we get behind our local police and emergency services personnel and let them know we care and appreciate what they do for us.
The community, through Rotary, recognises the good work being done, day in and day out, by the men and women in emergency services.
It is hoped that this will encourage the community to appreciate the duties and difficult situations faced by police officers and other emergency services.
The awards recognised an outstanding officer who, in serving the community:

displays very high standards of professionalism; or
performs significant acts of courtesy, kindness, understanding
