Spot-A-Koala Week

The Spot-A-Koala week is launching late September to encourage community participation in conserving the Ipswich Koala population.To coincide with Save the Koala Day on 28th September, residents are encouraged to survey their property, go for a walk in a Council Park or Reserve and look anywhere else there might be koalas and upload any sightings along with an image and location details to: spotakoala@ipswich.qld.gov.auHow to spot a KoalaLook for claw marks visible on the trunks of eucalypt trees – Koalas produce characteristic scratch marks when climbing treesLook for a still, furry animal up a tree – Koalas sleep up to 18 hours per dayKeep an eye and camera out for koalas during Spot-A-Koala week from 28 September – 5 October and play a key role in establishing a koala monitoring program in Ipswich.
