Hottest Ekka in 70 years, as Toowoomba carnival threatens to bloom early
Queensland is preparing for the hottest Ekka week since 1946, with unseasonably warm temperatures also causing buds to bloom too early for Toowoomba’s Carnival of Flowers.
Manslaughter charge, Springfield Lakes
Police have charged a man following investigations into injuries resulting in the death of a man on a worksite in Springfield Lakes earlier this year.
Just before 2pm on April 10, it will be alleged a man was struck in the head by earth moving equipment and suffered serious injuries.
The 29-year-old Deagon man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died the following day.
Workplace Health and Safety launched an investigation into the incident which has resulted in officers from Ipswich CIB, yesterday charging a 24-year-old Yarrabilba man with one count of manslaughter.
He is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court today.
