Serious traffic crash, Springfield

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred this afternoon in Springfield.
Initial investigations suggest that a man stopped his ute on the Centenary Highway just before 4pm and as he walked down the side of his vehicle, he was struck by another ute that was travelling on the highway.
The man was taken to the Princess Alexandra hospital with serious leg injuries.
The highway was closed for a number of hours but has since been re-opened.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Annual Dog’s on Patrol at Providence

The Ipswich District Dogs on Patrol initiative has become an annual event at Providence, South Ripley.
The Dogs on Patrol initiative commenced in the North Brisbane District and was successfully implemented at a number of locations across the Ipswich Police District last year starting with Providence, South Ripley, then Redbank Plains and at the Million Paws Walk.
The Dogs on Patrol project has proven to be so well received in the community that Providence are making it an annual event with the next Dogs on Patrol at Providence being conducted in October. Details for the event are:

Dogs on Patrol is a crime prevention initiative that provides strategies to members of the community who are out and about walking their dogs for staying safe whilst at the same time assisting police by reporting crime and or providing a good description of suspicious
