Wear red and walk for Daniel

On Friday, October 27 Ipswich District Day for Daniel Committee are organising a ‘Day for Daniel’ community walk starting from d’Arcy Doyle place at 9.00am.
There will be a sausage sizzle breakfast; $2 for sausage/bread and $1 for drinks prior to the walk as well as a welcome from the Mayor and councillors, committee members, Queensland Police Service Ipswich District Crime Prevention, and Ipswich Community Youth Service supported by Ipswich City Council and Act for Kids – Walk Tall Program.
The parade will be lead by the Road Policing Unit and Mounted Police.
There will be Daniel Morcombe merchandise that can be purchased on the day, with all proceeds going to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation.
Daniel’s legacy is a reminder to everyone to protect children from harm by educating them of their early warning signs – when their body tells them they don’t feel safe, to then tell someone.

Ipswich locals reminded to secure their vehicles and number plates

Police are urging all Ipswich residents to be mindful when parking and securing their vehicles, and removing their keys from the ignition of the car.
Don’t leave your car keys anywhere near the vehicle, ensure they are placed somewhere safe and out of sight inside your house.
Crime occurs when there is an opportunity.
Don’t give a thief an opportunity to steal your most valuable possession your car or number plate.

Secure your vehicle at all times;
Lock all doors;
Close all windows;
Remove your keys;
Remove all valuable;
Park in a well lit area;
Fit an alarm; and
Secure your number plate with – ONE WAY SCREWS.

On September 28 at approximately 5.50pm, a male person attended the address and shouted out to the victim. The victim opened the front door and the offender told the victim to leave. The offender and victim grappled for a short time before a female intervened. The offender attempted to punch the female before continuing to grapple with the male victim. The victim managed to push the offender off him and close the door. The offender proceeded to the kick the door before leaving the address. A 39-year-old One Mile man is scheduled to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on October 20 in relation to the matter.
