On Friday night the Ipswich Community came together at a black tie gala event at the Ipswich Turf Club Bundamba to raise awareness and highlight the importance of child protection and child safety in our community whilst at the same time recognising the efforts, programs, services and achievements that individuals and organisations have accomplished over the last 12 months.
The event was facilitated by the Ipswich Region Child Protection Week Committee which comprises of members from Queensland Police Service, ICYS Ipswich Community Youth Service, Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services, Somerset Regional Council and Ipswich City Council to promote the Safety and well being of children. The event received funding support from Mission Australia Communities for Children Inala to Ipswich.
The Child Protection Gala Dinner and Awards evening was made even more significant this year being facilitated on White Ballooon Day, which is Australia’s Child Sexual Assault Awareness campaign.
