First ever Australian Police Rugby Union women’s team

The Australian Police Rugby Union (APRU) commenced in 1997 and this year for the very first time established a women’s team. Every two years there has been a National championship for men and from there an Australian Police team is selected. This is the process that the women’s team is hoping to follow with interest from South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland. The affiliated State teams are in the planning stages of a championship in Wollongong, September 2018.
Before this happens, APRU are planning for a camp to be held in Canberra early next year where team members will play a couple of games against ADFA and a local union team.
There is an inaugural Police World Rugby Championship being held in Hong Kong in September 2019, which APRU are hoping to get both a men’s and women’s team to the event.
On October 3 and 4 the first ever women’s camp
