Leichhardt kids learn about road safety in the lead up to Fatality Free Friday

Ipswich District Road Safety Committee comprising of Ipswich District Crime Prevention, Ipswich PCYC, Department of Transport and Main Roads and Ipswich City Council along with Ipswich District Road Policing, attended Leichhardt State School on Monday, May 22 to raise awareness on road safety in the lead up to Fatality Free Friday on Friday, May 26.

Children and parents loved the attendance of police especially with the presence of the police bike, of which nearly all the children had an opportunity to sit on and experience.
The Ipswich Road Safety Committee also provided heaps of fun filled resources for the children and the parents to inform them of the Fatal Five; speeding, seatbelts, drink and drug driving, fatigue, inattention and distraction.
The aim of Fatality Free Friday is NOT a single road death in Australia for just one day. To mark Fatality Free Friday, community events will be held simultaneously across Australia.
