Silkstone State Primary School showed their colours with parents, teachers and students celebrating Under 8s Day.

Ipswich District Crime Prevention Volunteers in Police and police from Ipswich Station were on hand to recruit a few officers ready to prove they are worth their weight in gold to be first responders in the Silkstone community.

Wearing the police colours and looking very professional these first hand recruits showed the real police how it’s done.

First we had an assembly, the school song and rewards morning. Then on to celebrating being under 8….

and having some fun with Adopt-A-Cop Constable Solah.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a puppy reported stolen from an address at Riverview on April 19.
Investigations indicate at about 10am, the 8-week-old male King Charles Cavalier puppy named Clay was removed from the backyard of an address in Knight Street.
Clay (pictured) is micro-chipped and has distinct markings on his head and paws.
Concerns are held for his welfare as he has not yet had all of his injections.
Any members of the public who have seen Clay or have information in relation to his whereabouts are asked to contact police.

National Volunteers Week (May 21-27) is the annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. It is the largest celebration of volunteers in Australia and provides an opportunity to highlight their role in our community and to say thank you to the more than six million Australians who volunteer.
This year’s theme is “Give a little. Change a lot.”
Ipswich Police District is extremely proud of and grateful for its Volunteer in Policing program and currently has 15 Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) performing all types of community engagement and Crime Prevention Community educational activities across the Ipswich Police District. We are extremely grateful for all they do.

Take the pledge and spread the word about road safety during this year’s Fatality Free Friday event on May 25.

The Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit, in partnership with the Ipswich City Council, Department of Transport and Main Roads and Ipswich PCYC Braking the Cycle, will promote Fatality Free Friday – a National Road Safety Campaign encouraging drivers to consider road safety by making a commitment to take the pledge.
The pledge is on the Fatality Free Friday website and is a commitment to yourself, your family and your friends to use the roads safely on Fatality Free Friday.
The aim of Fatality Free Friday is zero road deaths in Australia for just one day. To mark Fatality Free Friday, community events will be held simultaneously across Australia.
This year’s Ipswich Fatality Free Friday event will be held at the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Colvin Street, North Ipswich, from 9.30am.

The Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit had a static display at the Ipswich Show over the last three days.

We showcased a variety of Crime Prevention and Community Safety information including Home Security, Personal Safety, Internet Safety, Road Safety,  Party Safe, Police Pipes and Drums,  Recruiting and heaps more with Volunteers in Policing as well as Volunteers from the Ipswich Crime Stoppers Volunteer Committee.  You could almost say that everyone that visited our stall won a prize!

Thank you to all of our volunteers for your time, effort and enthusiasm as always. It was great to see you all step up, step up and have a go!
