Road Safety Week is zooming around the corner

Across Queensland, Police will be out in force engaging with community to remind them of Road Safety Week (August 27-31).
Every day, road crashes devastate the lives of Queenslanders and take an enormous toll on families and our communities.
We need all Queenslanders to take a stand.
Our focus this year is ‘Speaking up for road safety – road rules refresh’, and we’re encouraging the whole community to have their say and refresh their road rules knowledge.
Refreshing your knowledge on the road rules will improve road safety for you and other road users.
Throughout the week, Ipswich Police will be highlighting different road user groups including motorists, pedestrians, bicycle riders, heavy vehicle drivers and motorcyclists, to engage with community across the Ipswich Police District.
Some of the events that will be held leading up to and during Road Safety Week are:

CCTV Catching Out Crooks in Brassall

The increase in numbers of residents installing and registering home and business CCTV with police is yielding great results in Brassall.
In recent weeks, Karana Downs police have made a number of key arrests, largely due to residents providing police with CCTV images and recordings.
Property crimes in Belmount Place, Lakemba Place, Glasgow Boulevard, Homestead Place, Heritage Drive and Saint Aubins Drive have all been solved with the assistance of community members who came forward with vital CCTV evidence.
Police would like to sincerely thank those residents for their assistance and for contributing significantly to police efforts to reduce crime and make the community safer.

Clancy’s park to park fun run

On Sunday July 29, the Ipswich Hospital Foundation park 2 park fun run was held in Ipswich.
Ipswich is regarded as one of the most challenging and hilly courses in Queensland where large numbers of runners across the Ipswich Police District and beyond competed in either the Half Marathon Relay, 10km, 5km Run, 5km Walk, Family Challenge or the Mascot Marathon.
Ipswich Police District Constable Clancy entered the mascot marathon with fellow competitors in the 100m race doing extremely well, staying upright and finishing proud with the crowds cheering them on.

The camaraderie on the day was enjoyable for all whether competitors were serious runners or community members wanting to take part in some good healthy exercise and fun whilst raising money for a good cause, that being the Ipswich Hospital Foundation.

Silkstone playgroup dress up like their Heros

On Friday August 3, Adopt-a-Cop Constable Solah visited his adopted school, Silkstone State School, along with fellow officer Constable Gough.
Whilst they were there, the officers had a very special opportunity to catch up with the littlest members of the school who are attached to the playgroup class.
There were a few nervous kids but the majority of children were excited to have the police visit their class and made the officers feel welcome.
The children learnt about, how to recognise police, and what to do if they get lost, including how to dial that all important number in case of an emergency.
The kids even had the opportunity to try on some uniforms and pretend to be their heroes – a lot of fun was had by everyone and police identified some potential future recruits from the group.
Before police finished up their visit, the children were delighted to jump into the police car
