Ipswich Road Safety Week wrap
Throughout the week for Road Safety Week on August 21 to 25, police across the state have made their communities aware of their responsibility when it comes to travelling on Queensland roads encouraging safe driving practices.
We need to all ‘speak up for road safety’ and remind ourselves of the Fatal Five: speeding, drink and drug driving; distractions, seatbelts and fatigue and the dangers they each represent if we become complacent while driving.
Sharing the road with other road users; bicycles and pedestrians mean that we are to educate ourselves of the road rules to ensure everyone is safe, incorporating the Fatal Five.
As a last reminder Goodna and Yamanto conducted Random Breath Testing (RBT) sites, in a final effort to reach as many Ipswich residents with the road safety message of Speaking up for Road Safety and surviving EVERY drive, as we move into the school holiday period.
Ipswich Police are concerned for
Stolen vehicle alert, Tuesday August 29
In the past, many vehicles have been taken while the victims were at home.
Keys, mobile phones and cash were also stolen after thieves allegedly gained entry to homes and easily located car keys in plain view.
Police advise that residents should secure their homes and vehicles to avoid opportunistic thefts. Hiding car keys and valuables will make it difficult for offenders to steal your vehicle and other property.
Ask yourself: “Where are my car keys?”
If you can, secure your car in a garage or park your vehicle inside of your yard rather than on the street. This will also assist in the prevention of number plates being stolen.
