Ipswich celebrations for NAIDOC Week – Because of Her, We Can! July 8-15

From July 8 NAIDOC Week will be celebrated in many ways across the Nation.
This years theme is, Because of Her, We Can!
The theme outlines how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played – and continue to play – active and significant roles at the community, local, state and national levels, and are pillars of our society.
To mark the occasion there will be a number of significant activities.

Ipswich Police District will be holding the 2018 NAIDOC Flag Raising Ceremony at Yamanto District Police Complex on Monday 9 July commencing at 10.00am. For further information please contact Police Liaison Officer Michael Bong 3814 8965.
Ipswich PCYC – in partnership with Ipswich Service Providers, supported by Crime Stoppers and Ipswich Police – will be holding the NAIDOC CUP 20/20 Cricket Exhibition Match Qld Indigenous Side and SWIN Seamers on July 10, from 8.30am until 7pm at Ivor Marsden Fields 202 Old Toowoomba

Ipswich Police District farewell Assistant Commissioner Wright

Ipswich Police would like to farewell Assistant Commissioner Tony Wright from the Southern Region to State Discipline as Acting Deputy Commissioner, after working in our region for the past five years.
The Southern Region stretches from Moreton Island in the east to the South Australian boarder in the west.
Assistant Commissioner Wright will be sadly missed, however the Ipswich District wish him all the best in his new role.
Thank you Assistant Commissioner Wright for all your support and assistance in the Southern Region.
