With an estimated worldwide audience of 1 billion people the Sydney fireworks display is set to wow the crowds as New Years Eve celebrations heat up around the country.
Unlawful use of a motor vehicle, Bundamba
Detectives from the Ipswich Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) are investigating after an armed man threatened a group of men and stole a utility at Bundamba this morning.
At 11am, four men were at the Bundamba Skate Park in Brisbane Road when they were approached by a man.
After a brief conversation, the group started walking towards the ute when the man followed them and produced a knife.
He then threatened one of the men from the group and demanded he hand over the keys.
The man then stole the ute and was last seen travelling on Brisbane Road towards the Ipswich Motorway.
No-one was physically injured.
He is described as Caucasian, muscular build, approximately 165cm tall, shaved head wearing a grey and green coloured singlet with dark shorts.
A short time later, the stolen ute was observed by police at Loganholme where it was detected travelling at 151km on the Logan Motorway.

Christmas Road Safety – Festive Break Day 8 report
A motorcyclist has taken flight in the Airport Link Tunnel on day 8 of Festive Break, allegedly detected travelling 192 km/hour in an 80 km/hour zone through Windsor.
The rider was one of 3,733 drivers detected speeding on Day 8 of the Festive Break phase of the Christmas Road Safety Campaign.
A 24-year-old Korean man lost his life following a single vehicle traffic crash on Sippel Road in the Lockyer Valley where the vehicle he was travelling in left the roadway.
The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene while a man located in the back seat sustained serious head injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.
A man and woman also travelling in the vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
A further 59 drivers were yesterday charged with drink driving with the State’s highest reading on the Sunshine Coast where a motorist allegedly provided a Breath Alcohol Consumption (BAC) of 0.224 per cent
