Queensland Road Safety week is happening again this August 27-31 and it is just around the corner, lets keep each other safe whilst driving on Queensland roads.
Ipswich police have provided some helpful hints to consider when your next behind the wheel:
Plan not to drink and drive
If you plan to drink, plan to get home safely;
designate a driver, catch a taxi, public transport or organise a lift;
Stay at a mate’s place; and
You can still be over the limit in the morning, so avoid driving.
Put the brakes on speeding
Regularly check your speed when you’re driving;
If weather and/or road conditions are poor, slow down; and
Don’t follow to closely – leave a two second gap.
Take action against distractions
In the car, switch your phone to silent so you’re not tempted;
Keep your phone out of sight. Pop it in the glove box; and
Pull over safely before grabbing your phone or GPS.
Show some restraint
No matter how short
