Whether you are travelling a long distance these holidays or just doing a day trip, it’s important to consider your safety, and the safety of your loved ones, whilst driving on Queensland roads.
Ipswich Police have provided the below safety tips for those using the roads during the school holidays:
Plan your trip in advance and ensure you are well rested before heading off on your trip, and before returning home;
Obey the road rules – not obeying the road rules and speed limits may cost you your life, and that of another road user;
Drive to the conditions of the road so that you can make a sudden stop or avoid hazards;
Rest regularly by having breaks every two hours for 15 minutes or share the drive with a family member or friend;
Drive with your headlights on low during the daylight hours so it makes it easier for oncoming traffic to see you;
Always watch
