Road Safety, educating the next generation

Road safety presentation
Year 11 students from Ipswich State High School (ISHS) participated in a road safety initiative focusing on road safety education.
The students were exposed to a number of activities relating to staying safe on our roads, including an interactive presentation teaching students about the dangers of the Fatal 5.
Year 11 students took a pledge to ‘Join the Drive to Save Lives’, supporting the Queensland Government’s road safety message.
Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) Ipswich kindly attended and ran activities with students using the Fatal Vision goggles, simulating the effects of alcohol on vision.
Students were shocked at how their co-ordination and perception were affected by alcohol, and many students struggled to stay on their feet while wearing the goggles.
A big thank you to Ipswich Pro Driving School who attended and provided the opportunity for students to get behind the wheel of their driver training simulators and experience real life road conditions.
