On Tuesday July 31, representatives from the Queensland Police Service (QPS), Queensland Fire and Rescue (QFES) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) took part in a yearly training exercise which is aimed and preparing our emergency service workers for potential situations they may face.
At the training location, two workers entered a large water tank to conduct welding operations on a stretch of pipework when a loud explosion was heard. After the explosion, there was no response from the two workers who were acting in the scenario.

Participating in the exercise was 3 QFES crews, 2 QAS units and 2 QPS officers.
The QFES personnel successfully removed one of the workers who was then treated by QAS and was mock airlifted for further treatment.
QPS remained on scene to contain the situation and, as one of the workers was found to be deceased in the tank, investigated the cause
