Ipswich seniors promote World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Ipswich Seniors, with support from Ipswich District Crime Prevention, Ipswich community service providers and organised by Able Australia, provided an opportunity for seniors to come together among the leaders of Ipswich Central State School to share stories and learn about the years and difference between them.

In celebration of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, students participated in discussion and sang in sign language as apart of the entertainment, then shared morning tea after their conversations.
Ipswich District Crime Prevention provided a static display with information focusing on keeping safe and how to report to police for any crime, especially Elder Abuse.
Elder abuse is any act within a relationship of trust which results in harm to an older person.
Sadly, the majority of elder abuse is committed by sons, daughters, spouses or grandchildren.
