Students from Ipswich West State School learnt about road safety from Ipswich police at a recent assembly.
Road safety is everyone’s responsibility and the students from West Ipswich knew their stuff.
Focusing on crossing the street, wearing seat belts, and learning about the safest way to get out of the car when parked on the street were discussed, as well as riding and walking to school safely.
Police advice on the importance of wearing a helmet, riding on the correct side of the road, checking your bike to ensure it’s safe to ride and that the brakes work, as well as having a bell to alert pedestrians and other riders, gave the children much food for thought.
The Ipswich City Council HAST (Healthy Active School Travel) program works in partnership with Ipswich police educating all the schools across the Ipswich Police District which nominate their school to participate, about children riding and walking to
