No community is immune from drugs but having factual information about drug use is an important step in being able to prevent use and related harm. This is exactly what the community of Esk did last night at the Esk Methamphetamine Community Drug Forum.
At the forum, Mrs Lyn Buchanan – Somerset Regional Council Community Development Coordinator, Ms Julie Boland-Chant – Social worker at Esk Hospital, Mr Peter Lupton – counsellor at Eastern Access Community Health, and Sergeant Karlene Trezise – Officer in Charge at Esk Police Station.
The Ipswich District Crime Prevention Unit, in partnership with Family Drug Support and Crime Stoppers Queensland, are facilitating methamphetamine community information forums in the rural communities across the Ipswich police district, having now completed Rosewood and Esk forums.
Last night’s forum included a presentation from Mr Peter Lupton, an Alcohol and Drug Councillor from EACH.
The forums cover what methamphetamine is, its effects, avenues of support
