On July 26, Yamanto Police were invited to Tiny Tots Raceview Playgroup as part of their ‘people you meet in the community’ education program. The children were very excited to meet their local police officers, Chelsea and Jamie.
As a group we discussed what to do if you become lost or separated from your mum or dad, and how to dial ‘000’ in an emergency.
Some of the children were timid at first but livened up when they were able to do fingerprinting and received their own Junior Police Identification card and a sticker.
Next up it was pretending to drive the police vehicle, posing for photos with police and turning on the lights and sirens.
Everyone had a good time and took away the important message that their local police are friendly, approachable and are here to help.
This message is an important one for parents to teach their children from an early age.
